For 17 years the Minecraft sky has been a static box with square clouds and a square sun.
I think it's time for a proper overhaul to make the sky feel alive.
Here is my concept for a "Sky Update":
1. Long-Distance Avian Migration
Add Eagles, Albatrosses, and Cranes. Unlike Parrots that fly in circles, these birds would fly high and migrate across multiple biomes.
2. 3D Voxel Clouds
Clouds are no longer flat 2D textures. They have volume. Players can fly through them with Elytra or stand on top of dense storm clouds.
3. HD Celestial Bodies
The Sun and Moon get a visual overhaul with better glowing effects and more immersive sunset and sunrise gradients.
4. Meteor Showers and Wishing Mechanics
Dynamic shooting stars appear at night. Players can "wish" upon them to trigger rare cosmic item drops, giving a reason to explore at night.
5. Dynamic Weather Visuals
Sky colors shift seamlessly according to weather. This includes actual rainbows after rainstorms and cloud-to-cloud lightning during thunderstorms.
What do you all think? Is it finally time to update the sky?
