Toggle the volume of each mob's sounds individually.

If you press Esc and go to Options, then Music and Sounds, you can press a button and search for a mob or scroll through the list of mobs (sorted alphabetically). Then you can lower the volume for the entire mob, or you can go to Options for the mob and adjust individual sounds, for example, the mob's hurt sound.
