Tempest Tides would be a game drop focused on the Trident, weather, and exploration. The main feature is a Tempest Smithing Template, allowing players to turn a Trident into a Tempest Trident, using a rare Tempest Core, giving the Trident its own progression path that would be separate from Netherite.
The Trident is one of Minecraft's rarest weapons but it has no meaningful late game upgrade. This update would encourage players to keep exploring oceans and monuments long after obtaining a Trident. It would also make storms feel exciting, expand archaeology, and add reasons to revisit coastal areas without becoming another ocean overhaul.
The Tempest Smithing Template could be found in a new Storm Shrine structure, with Tempest Cores being found from Ocean Monuments, shrines, or buried treasure. The upgraded Trident would gain slight improvements like faster throws, quicker Loyalty return, and a charged throw that creates a explosion of wind when the thrown trident lands, knocking enemies back in all directions. To balance this, if you throw it too close to yourself, you also get the same knockback. The drop could also include Ship Graveyards, and Heavy Storms. Ship graveyards would be a rare structure that's a large collection of shipwrecks, that also has a chance to contain the new Tempest Core Together. Heavy storms would be more violent than thunderstorms. These additions would create a cohesive exploration update that expands existing mechanics rather than replacing them.
