The Trades & Trials update upgrades Minecraft villages by adding side quests, a new premium currency, and a mimic combat challenge to reward player skill over repetitive trading.Villager Quests and Rubies: Villagers offer missions based on their profession. Common favors like clearing zombie sieges reward emeralds. Harder Village Protector Bounties like clearing Pillager Outposts reward Rubies. Rubies can be traded to instantly boost a villager's profession level by a full tier, or used to buy rare, uncraftable items locked in hidden Master trades.Impostor Villagers and The Gauntlet: A small percentage of villagers are hostile Illagers in disguise. They refuse to sleep and feature a single blood-red pixel on their belt badge. Attempting to trade teleports you to an underground bedrock Gauntlet Room. You must defeat waves of monsters where block placement and breaking is disabled to win a jackpot chest of Rubies, Netherite, and enchanted gear.High-Stakes Rematches: If you die in the gauntlet, your items stay on the floor. You have two ways back in. The Overcharged Grudge Match lets you re-interact with the Impostor to teleport back. The gauntlet resets, but enemies spawn with extra health and speed, forcing you to fight an amplified horde to recover your gear. The Infiltration allows you to craft a Mob Disguise Suit from leather and monster drops, then pay the Impostor 1 Ruby for safe passage into a completely dormant room to collect your items peacefully.
