What is the problem?
For iPadOS and Nintendo Switch the Marketplace trial system employs an unethical, coercive UX dark pattern. During events like "Free Marketplace Weekend," players can activate trial add-ons/packs on their worlds. Once the trial ends, the world locks, displaying an error stating the content "can be disabled in the world settings or purchased."
This is intentionally false. The "Deactivate" button vanishes from the world settings page if a pack's license expires. Instead, it can only be bypassed through a convoluted workaround in the main title menu storage settings. Most younger children will not find this, and neither would parents who are unfamiliar with games and their settings. Removing the button serves no functional purpose other than to intentionally confuse consumers into believing they must buy the pack to save their broken world, exploiting children to force parents into a purchase.
Why do you want something done?
Because hiding a basic UI removal button behind a paywall to manipulate families into high-pressure purchases is predatory and unethical.
What do you want done?
Keep the "Deactivate" button permanently visible and functional in the world settings menu, regardless of whether a player currently owns the pack license.
