Vultures are neutral flying mobs found in the Badlands. They circle high in the sky and swoop down to attack and eat Zombies, Husks, and Drowned. Vultures normally ignore players, but if you drop below 4 hearts, they will dive at you, forcing you to heal or retreat. They add danger to the Badlands without being overwhelming.
To tame a vulture, you must use a pair. Feed two vultures rotten flesh. If successful, they will fly back to their nest and lay an egg. Their nests look similar to dead coral fans and generate on high ledges or mesa pillars. When the egg is laid, you must take both the egg and the nest block. Doing so triggers a loud cry, causing all vultures in that chunk to attack you. If you escape, you can place the nest somewhere safe and put the egg inside.
After some time, the egg hatches into a vulture chick. Feed it rotten flesh until it grows into an adult. This vulture is tame, but not a pet: it does not follow you or sit. Instead, it circles the air in a 16‑block radius around its nest, protecting the area. Tamed vultures attack all Zombies, Husks, Drowned, and Phantoms that enter their territory, creating a natural defence zone.
Vultures give the Badlands a unique identity and complete the set of natural mob counters by protecting players from undead threats.
