Swifts are tiny, fast, flocking sky mammals found in Plains, Meadows, and Cherry Groves. They fly in looping patterns high above the player and gather in groups of 3–7. Swifts are passive and cannot be commanded, but they provide natural utility without being overpowered.
Swifts interact with spiders in a simple, readable way. Groups of 3–4 swifts cause spiders to become afraid, keeping them 6–10 blocks away from the player. Spiders hesitate, back off, and stop climbing toward you when a swift flock is overhead. This encourages players to collect a full set of natural mob counters: wolves for skeletons, cats for creepers and phantoms, and now swifts for spiders.
Swifts can be tamed using Spider Eyes. Hold one to attract a swift, then toss it on the ground. The swift will swoop down, grab it, and if accepted, join your flock. Tamed swifts circle above the player, dip low when spiders are nearby, and occasionally dive at spiders to distract them. They remain sky‑bound and never sit or follow on the ground.
Swifts may drop Swift Fluff, a soft feather used for quieter arrow fletching. They add life to the sky, identity to the plains, and a natural way to reduce spider pressure without making combat trivial.
