I can't invite friends to play multiplayer from the friend list

I saw the update of having friend list but I tried creating new world to play with friends but there is no invite button in the game. (Not the realm but the normal world)

This same thing is happening to both me and my friend. I am incredibly confused, frustrated, and disappointed in Mojang at the moment for shipping a cool new feature that is in actuality unusable.
