Whereas a normal bed explodes violently in either of these dimensions, the straw beds are 'lite'. So basically a dud. They disappear of course, but leave behind an active fire block.
A straw bed would become an alternative to lighting a Nether Portal in the Nether if you have no flint and steel available.
