I’d love to suggest adding sharks to Minecraft, especially endangered species like whale sharks or scalloped hammerheads.
Minecraft has a history of adding real animals while also encouraging awareness of wildlife and conservation, so sharks feel like a natural fit. They’re some of the most misunderstood animals in the world, and adding them could help represent ocean biodiversity while highlighting endangered marine life.
I know Mojang has said they don’t want to encourage players to approach dangerous animals like sharks in real life, but that reasoning feels inconsistent with other animals already in the game. Polar bears, bees, goats, wolves, and spiders can all be dangerous in real life, and several are hostile or defensive in Minecraft as well. Minecraft already presents animals in a stylized way, not as real-life behavior guides.
Because of that, sharks don’t need to be excluded. They could be added in a way that is educational and safe for younger players. Whale sharks could be passive ocean mobs, while species like hammerheads could be neutral and only react if provoked. Sharks would make oceans feel more alive, represent endangered marine species, and help challenge the stereotype that all sharks are aggressive predators.
