the bark beetle is a small, neutral ambient mob that spawns in poplar forests, blending perfectly with the grayish bark of poplar trees. chopping down the block its resting on makes it scuttle off quikly. feeding them the new shelf mushrooms make them burrow into wood logs, leaving behind chiseld bark. this unique item can be crafted into a lightweight shield, which blocks attacks without slowing down player movement, though it has lower durability than a standard shield. this mob introduces a unique risk and reward system with straw beds (if they get added). if a straw bed is left unattende in a poplar forest, wild beetles will crawl inside to nap. attempting to sleep in an infested bed wakes the player up instantly with a bitten status effect, causing slowness 1 for 10 seconds while the angry beetle pops out. however feeding a beetle a shelf mushroom makes it peaceful. a tamed beetle will sleep protective ontop of your straw bed. while straw beds usually breeks after one use, a tamed beetle will "repair" it. so you can use it again. to transport it quiker on adventures, you can pick them up with bundels, right clicking it captures it, putting a beetle icon between your items in the bundel. after 20 minutes, the bundel starts to shake, giving you 11 seconds to put a shelf mushroom inside makes it happy again, else it destroys your bundel, scattering the items inside among your inventory, letting the beetle free and the beetle runs away. creating a fun organic use for bundels
