These are peaceful/neutral mobs that will appear in the new "spotted forests." Woodpeckers can be found pecking at trees, flying, or walking on the ground. They have some cool interactions with the world: they can peck bells to make them ring, peck other mobs (including the player) in a challenging manner, refine wood after pecking it for a specific amount of time, peck any wood block (even those making up the player's house), and peck a Jukebox to trigger a completely new melody; furthermore, they can activate other blocks with their beaks. If a woodpecker encounters the "Creaking" mob, it will peck at it endlessly. Along with the woodpecker comes a new block: the woodpecker nest. This block appears on tree trunks and functions similarly to a bee nest, with the woodpecker returning to it at the end of the day; players can also craft their own nests.
Feeding seeds to a woodpecker can earn the player its company for a few minutes, during which time the bird may defend the player.
Upon death, the woodpecker drops only feathers.
I believe the woodpecker would be a great addition to the new biome and would certainly make the world feel more alive.
