After defeating the Ender Dragon, the Dragon Egg should finally have a real purpose instead of being just a decorative trophy.
Players could hatch the Dragon Egg and raise a tameable dragon as an endgame companion. To hatch it, the egg would need to be placed on Magma Blocks and activated with End Crystals, giving both items a new purpose after defeating the Ender Dragon.
The baby dragon should require a rare food that can only be found in the End, encouraging players to keep exploring the dimension even after completing it. As it grows, players could craft a special Dragon Saddle to ride it.
If Mojang wants to keep the Ender Dragon unique, another option would be to introduce Wyverns. Their eggs could be found in rare nests or structures, allowing players to hatch and raise them instead.
The Dragon Egg has existed in Minecraft for over a decade, but today it is mostly a trophy. Giving it a meaningful purpose would make defeating the Ender Dragon even more rewarding and provide players with a new long-term goal without changing Minecraft's core gameplay.
