Dear Mojang,
My name is Ethan, and I wanted to thank you for something you probably never realized you gave me.
Last November, I lost my father, Daniel, after many years of fighting diabetes and kidney failure.
One of my favorite memories of him goes back to when I was a little kid. I came home from preschool, and he smiled at me and said, "Guess what I got today, son." He showed me an Xbox 360 and a stack of games. One of those games was Minecraft.
We had no idea that such a simple moment would become one of the memories I would treasure most. The music from Minecraft has stayed with me ever since. Every time I hear it, I'm reminded of that day, of my childhood, and of my dad.
Today I was looking for a song that reminded me of those memories, and I found "Danny." A song that took me back 10 years ago, sitting in front of my living room tv, making a dirt house just to survive the night. It was just a coincidence, but because my dad's name was Daniel, it immediately made me think of him.
Thank you for creating a game whose music and atmosphere have become tied to some of the happiest memories of my life. Years later, Minecraft is still helping me remember my dad.
Thank you.
