VV wasn't perfect during the reveal but it at least did a much better job at representing the rich, varied color palette of MC with perfect, unique lighting and shading.
But since the release, VV always looks horrible in terms of color management.
Like this over-filtered grayish blue in most neutral conditions.
Contrast is way down, brightness is way up, and the gamma, hue, and saturation are out of wack all the time.
Nothing can ever look the right color or the right intensity of black or white. Always gray.
Warm colors, especially skin tones tend to look radioactively... vibrant.
Default grass now has the alpha green but worse.
Seems like funky looking color changes are also applied depending on biome or weather?
Etc.
It's real odd that such an unfinished, confused visual style is used to showcase anything because when the color changes so negatively affect the look of everything. You couldn't ever even tell the real color of the Poplar Wood during the reveal!
I understand colors looking different during certain conditions like vanilla and real life also do. But it happens all the time too strongly. Our brains are designed to adapt to color and light changes so it doesn't look right.
Also ruins the intended base colors of textures. No reason to mess with the colors so much when all the textures were designed to match basic RGB you see in a photo editor. So now making new textures leads to a gamble where you're not even a little sure how actually it would look in game.
Respectfully.
