Creation & Design
The Sherd Guardian is a small, ancient utility golem crafted by the player using clay bricks and decorated Pottery Sherds. Its appearance is highly customizable; the sherds used during its assembly form its chest plates and arms, giving it a unique, mosaic-like look that blends perfectly with historical or rustic builds.
Behavior & Dynamic Functions
Unlike Iron Golems that wander around, the Sherd Guardian is a stationary protector tied to the specific area where it is built. It acts as a loyal base assistant, remaining dormant until its designated function is triggered. The exact role it plays depends entirely on the symbols engraved on the Pottery Sherds used to craft it:
The Archer Sherd: If built with this sherd, the golem acts as a defensive turret, launching wooden darts at hostile mobs that enter its line of sight.
The Prize Sherd: When crafted with this sherd, the golem focuses on organization. It automatically picks up dropped items within a 5-block radius and neatly deposits them into any adjacent chest.
The Brewer Sherd: This variant gently buffs nearby players by emitting a faint cloud of status effects, like Speed or Regeneration, whenever they return to base.
Maintenance
The golem has low health but can be easily repaired by right-clicking it with clay balls. If broken by the player, it drops all the original materials, allowing you to easily reconfigure its sherds and swap its job whenever your base needs a change.
