Appearance & Habitat
The Gorgonax is a bulky, quadrupedal beast that inhabits deep Dripstone Caves and rocky mountain biomes. It features a heavy stone-like carapace with mineral plates lining its back. Its most defining traits are a heavily armored, beak-like jaw capable of crushing stone and a pair of short, thick horns used for ramming.
Behavior & Terrain Destruction
As a hostile territorial predator, the Gorgonax is triggered by the sound of mining nearby. When chasing a target, it cannot be easily trapped; it can plow through soft and low-resistance blocks like dirt, gravel, and cobblestone. It can also slam its front paws to create a localized shockwave, launching rock splinters that deal area damage and heavily deplete shield durability.
Player Utility & Drops
Players can distract the Gorgonax by tossing raw iron or coal ores for it to eat. While fed and neutral, it can be guided to smash through stone layers, helping players clear large underground tunnels efficiently. When defeated, it drops Mineral Scales:
Heavy Scale Armor: A unique material used to upgrade iron or diamond pickaxes at a Smithing Table.
Impact Property: Upgraded pickaxes gain a passive ability where breaking a stone block has a chance to instantly fracture adjacent stone blocks, significantly speeding up manual mining.
