We recently received a new Maple Forest biome. Although it contains animals like foxes, chickens, etc., it would be nice to add a new exclusive mob that would not only fit perfectly into vanilla Minecraft, but would also have new, or similar uses to Allay or other mobs. Imagine exploring the forest when all of a sudden you see a creature slightly larger than a silverfish, with innocent little eyes that rolls up and hides when scared, "similar to how an armadillo does."
Ideas for the utility of the hedgehog could be the following:
- It would be possible to give the hedgehog a small gift, such as a mushroom, an apple, or even some honey. He would sometimes thank you by releasing one of his spikes onto the ground. This could be used to create a potion of sting, which could be useful in PvP since after using it, any mob or player that hits you will receive at least half the damage the player takes with the potion, so a temporary version of the "thorns" armor enchantment. An alternative could be a potion of thorn resistance, which protects you from armor enchanted with thorns.
- Another idea would be to adopt him, in a sense. He would remain a wild animal, so he wouldn't follow you, and you couldn't make him sit on the spot. The point would be that "after being adopted," the hedgehog would start leaving small gifts at your door, such as mushrooms, apples, honey, berries, or in rare cases, even golden apples or golden carrots, treasure maps, and other small but sometimes useful objects.
