The Hiveguard

Appearance & Habitat The Hiveguard is a medium-sized, heavily armored insectoid mob that spawns near massive hives in Forests and Jungles. Its body is covered in a thick yellow-and-black chitin shell shaped like honeycombs. It features powerful mandibles and short wings used for quick, gliding dashes. Behavior & Defense As a neutral territorial protector, the Hiveguard patrols the perimeter of its nest. It ignores players unless they harvest honey without a campfire or attack nearby bees. If a threat approaches—including hostile monsters like spiders or zombies—the Hiveguard charges into battle. Upon entering combat, it releases an Alert Pheromone cloud, granting nearby allied insects a speed boost and uniting them to swarm the target. Player Utility & Drops Players can utilize the Hiveguard as a base guardian to protect automatic honey farms from nighttime threats. It can be safely brushed to obtain Chitin Plates or defeated for Royal Jelly: Royal Jelly: Used to brew Potions of Antidote (poison immunity) or crafted into a specialized fertilizer that doubles crop growth speed via super-pollination. Hive Shield: Crafted with Chitin Plates, this unique shield releases a defensive pheromone when blocking attacks, causing nearby neutral bees to target the player's attacker.
