I am concerned that Minecraft Marketplace lacks effective parental controls and age-appropriate content filtering.
Although Minecraft is marketed as family-friendly, the Marketplace regularly displays horror-themed content, including Backrooms content, Huggy Wuggy content, horror maps, jump scares, and death-related themes. Many users and families would not consider this suitable for young children.
Children can be exposed to this content simply by browsing the Marketplace, and parents currently have no effective way to hide the Marketplace or filter content by age or theme.
I would like Minecraft to provide:
• Age-based Marketplace filtering for child accounts.
• The option for parents to disable or hide Marketplace access.
• Filters for horror, violence, death-related themes, and other sensitive content.
• Age-appropriate recommendations.
• Parental approval before content can be viewed, downloaded, or purchased.
• Clear content warnings on horror-themed items.
These changes would better support families and help Minecraft meet child-safety expectations under laws such as the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code), the Online Safety Act 2023, and similar child protection regulations in other countries.
Minecraft already offers controls for purchases and online play. Similar protections should be available for Marketplace content visibility.
Thank you for considering this feedback.
