The featured servers made by InPvP (Mineville, MegaSMP, GenWars, etc.) and Enchanted both feature lootbox like mechanics which often provide a competitive gameplay advantage. Considering these are featured servers endorsed by Microsoft and Mojang, I don't think they should allow or encourage these types of purchases on the servers.
While these lootbox mechanics show what item you would get before purchasing them, they are still random. If you don't like you would get you could either wait a day till it resets or purchase them to reveal the next random item. At the end of the day, it's still very closely resembling gambling as players will continue to purchase them in order to reveal and unlock the next item. They purposefully hide but show the rarity of your next 4 items to encourage users to open more boxes to reach the hidden rare item. These mechanics combined create an extremely addicting experience where it is easy for players to spend lots of money on. To add to this, these lootboxes can be extremely expensive especially when the value is random and could be near worthless.
These featured servers and Minecraft are targeting young audiences with this, and I don't think Mojang should be allowing this potentially harmful and addicting purchases.
