Hi Mojang team,
I would like the Minecraft Java Edition Launcher to support a proper instance system, where players can create separate profiles that each contain their own version, mods, worlds, resource packs, and settings.
At the moment, all installations share the same Minecraft folder, which makes modded setups messy and difficult to manage. Players often need to manually organise files or use third-party launchers just to avoid conflicts between different modpacks or versions. This can be confusing, especially for newer players who are getting into modding.
Each instance in the official launcher could work like a self-contained profile. For example, one instance could be vanilla Minecraft, another could be Fabric with performance mods, and another could be Forge with a modpack. Each instance would store its own separate files so they do not interfere with each other, making it easy to switch between setups with one click.
This would make the Java Edition launcher much more user-friendly, improve modding accessibility, and reduce the need for third-party launchers that already provide this system.
Thank you for considering the suggestion.
