If we go back to one game drop per year, we do have less immediate content, but the long-term potential for the game is much higher.
Smaller, frequent updates often feel disconnected and rushed. One single, major update per year gives the developers the time they actually need to build deep, complex mechanics. It allows for massive, game-changing overhauls—like a complete End Update or a fully realized Deep Dark expansion—rather than just adding a few disconnected blocks and mobs.
Furthermore, a slower pace gives the player base actual time to breathe and adapt. When new features drop constantly, the game can feel overwhelming, and older features get forgotten before they are even fully explored. One big annual update gives everyone the chance to truly learn, enjoy, and master the new mechanics together.
Quality and depth should always come before speed. A single, massive annual update creates real hype, brings the community together, and gives us content that keeps the game alive for months.
