## Petition to Revert the 26.2-pre-2 Changes to Attribute Swapping
With the 26.2-pre-2 snapshot, Mojang patched attribute swapping entirely. You can no longer swap to an item and retain its attributes on use. Worse, you can no longer swap to an item and use it in the same tick, meaning every action that requires a quick swap now has an unavoidable delay baked in. Combat and item usage as a whole feels completely broken and clunky.
This isn't a niche PvP issue, theres countless different players effected by the changes. People who play hardcore now have extra delay when swapping to a totem, Shields are worse with higher delay due to the extra tick required after swapping to use it making them take a significant nerf with an additional tick of delay stacked on top of the already existing 250ms. Speedrunners, survival players, technical players and PvPers alike are all affected. Anyone who has any sort of muscle memory around hotbar inputs has had that skill erased overnight, and any technique in the game related to any aspect of the game that requires hotbar inputs has been affected.
Beyond that inputs that previously felt natural now either delay or fail entirely, making gameplay feel unresponsive across survival, PvP and general play equally.
This isn't the first time a bug fix has quietly harmed the community this way, the 25w02a diagonal movement fix hit the parkour community significantly, and was reverted after backlash minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-25w04a
