There should be a simple command to manage the durability of an item. Say I wanted to put a netherite sword with sharpness 5 in a chest but I only wanted it to have like 8 durability points (creative mode). Currently I would have to use the sword lots of times to get it down to that desired durability.
So while there's already /give and /enchant in the game, there should be /durability too. Then there would be a subcatergory after that so you can control which item's durability you can adjust - held hand, off-hand, armor:helmet-slot, armor:chestplate-slot, etc. Then there would be a few controls you can do regarding durability: view, add, subtract. Then the amount of durability you want to add or subtract.
For example:
1 - to lower the durability of a diamond axe that you are currently holding by 232 durability points:
/durability mainhand subtract 232
2 - to raise the durability of a shield in your off-hand by 64 points:
/durability offhand add 64
3 - to view the current durability of a worn turtle helmet:
/durability armor:helmet-slot view (and then it displays the current durability, for example "101")
If the amount of added durability exceeds the amount of durablilty that item can hold, for example adding 200 durablity to a wood sword that already has 64 durability, it would only add to max wood sword durability. Vice versa for subtracting smth. If you subtract 200 from the same sword, it will just break in your hand.
