The Potion of Stunting is a utility potion that lets players “freeze” plants in their current growth stage, so they stop growing, spreading or extending further. It is meant for builders and decorators who want precise visual control over crops, vines, sugar cane and similar plants without constantly trimming or rebuilding.
You obtain it via a Golden Dandelion, either by brewing it in a brewing stand with a water bottle or, as an alternative, by crafting it directly with a water bottle and a Golden Dandelion in the crafting grid. The brewed version could be the stronger or default one, while the crafted version offers an easier early‑game option.
To identify stunted plants, there are two visual options:
-
Particles – subtle golden particles appearing now and then around the tips of affected plants.
-
Texture change – tiny golden dots at the ends of leaves or stalks, keeping the plant recognisable while clearly marking it as “locked”.
The potion is meant as a cleaner, more integrated alternative to using string to stop plant spread or height. String technically works, but looks ugly, breaks immersion, and its texture might become even more noticeable with future texture updates. The Potion of Stunting solves the same gameplay problem in a way that fits naturally into Minecraft’s systems and aesthetics, giving players a deliberate, elegant tool instead of a hacky workaround.
