Accessibility suggestion: option to disable mouse capture for assistive devicesI
would like to share an accessibility suggestion regarding Minecraft Bedrock on Android.
I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and I use a powered wheelchair with a Bluetooth mouse interface integrated into the wheelchair joystick. The joystick moves the cursor and the buttons act as mouse clicks.
In older versions of Minecraft Bedrock on Android, the device was handled similarly to touch input, allowing me to move my character and play Survival mode, even if not perfectly.
In newer versions, Minecraft seems to capture the mouse input and use it only for camera movement, hiding the cursor. Because of this, I can no longer use the setup that previously allowed me to play.
For players with severe physical disabilities who rely on assistive devices, it would be very helpful to have accessibility options such as:
- Disable mouse capture / pointer capture
- Treat mouse input as touch input
- Allow choosing between “mouse camera mode” and “touch emulation mode”
For users with conditions such as Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, assistive mice, wheelchair interfaces and alternative input devices can be essential to access games.
Minecraft allowed me to play before with this setup, and I hope accessibility options like these could help other players as well.
Thank you for your work and for considering accessibility improvements.
Kind regards,
