Just as redstone dust can be placed on the ground to trigger redstone mechanisms, gunpowder could serve a similar purpose: it could be placed on the ground and, in this case, on walls as well, and could be ignited with fire—such as a lighter or fire-based charges. This feature could be used as a replacement for redstone in triggering TNT, and with the advantage of not needing repeaters, since it would be consumed as a line of gunpowder—which is exactly what it is—without the limitation that redstone has of its 15 power that eventually runs out. In conclusion, gunpowder could be used like redstone dust to trigger TNTs without needing a repeater, since it consumes itself and is single-use.
