I really do think that spiders in Minecraft Java Edition are quite to big especially since spiders in real life are actually small. Plus, in real life if you know spiders much, you would see that most spiders are friendly - so why not make the normal spider friendly but only attack the mob/player (entity) that punched it? To make things more interesting, the cave spider could not be friendly (eg. the cave spider attacks when ever it sees you). I also recommend the friendly spiders should have little habitats in the oak biome (bees have bee nests in the oak trees, so why not have little webs in some oak trees for spider to live in). Back to talking about textures, the friendly spiders should have different textures (different types of spiders - a peacock spider, a jumping spider, an St Andrew's cross...) like a pig's texture in the taiga biome and a pig's texture in the plains biome. One last thing, you know how lots of mobs can be tamed by players, how about the friendly spiders can get tamed by using a bee (which would need to be able to be captured), and I also think that there should be a baby friendly spider which looks really cute (so I can really have a pet spider in my house in Minecraft).
