Right now, flying through the End with an Elytra is completely safe. There are no obstacles, no flying threats except the occasional Phantom, and you can travel thousands of blocks without looking at the screen. It’s time to make outer End islands highly dangerous for reckless flyers. Meet the Rift Weaver.
The Concept: The Rift Weaver
This is a massive, glowing, void-purple arachnid with long translucent legs. It doesn't walk on the ground; instead, it anchors itself to the edges of floating End islands and floats in the open air.
Gravity Webs: The Rift Weaver spins invisible, localized gravity webs in the empty gaps between End islands. If a player flies into this web with an Elytra, they are instantly stopped mid-air, losing all momentum.
The Void Lift: While trapped in the gravity web, you don't fall into the void immediately. Instead, the web keeps you floating for 8 seconds while the Weaver slowly pulls you toward its island to attack. You must use an Ender Pearl or cut the web with netherite shears to break free.
The Rift Membrane Drop: Defeating this horror drops a "Rift Membrane". This material can be used to upgrade your Elytra at a smithing table into a Reinforced Elytra. It loses 20% less durability when flying inside the End and allows you to instantly recover from accidental wall crashes without taking damage.
Stop flying blindly through the End. Look where you are steering, or get caught in the rift.
