I like the idea of Minecraft: Java Edition getting easier peer-to-peer friend joining, but I hope it does not stop at only joining a friend’s personal world.
A major improvement would be a “Join Friend” option that lets players join the same multiplayer server their friend is already playing on, as long as that server allows it.
For example, if my friend is on a public server, Realm, or private server, I should be able to click their name and join that same server without needing them to copy/paste the IP every time.
This should still respect server rules like whitelists, bans, player limits, required versions, mods, and resource packs. Privacy should also be clear, with options like Visible to Friends, Invite Only, or Hidden.
Peer-to-peer worlds are useful, but Minecraft would feel much more modern if Java also made it easier to follow friends into the servers they are already enjoying. This would make multiplayer smoother, faster, and more social. 🎮
