Sharing resource packs in multiplayer P2P worlds (Java Edition 26.2)

It's tedious to have to send a resource pack link to a friend and have them install it manually just to test a Minecraft map. So, why not be able to share that resource pack directly? Similar to how the Essential mod works. This would allow players to share resource packs with their friends to enjoy maps or fun packs in an SMP world.
