Considering all the features that have been added to improve datapack creation—such as custom enchantments, dimensions, goat horns, and various attributes, just to name a few—I think the next step should be adding support for Custom Potion Effects. For example, a Potion of Low Gravity that makes you jump higher and fall slower, or a Potion of Growth that changes your scale. Each of these potions could have its own custom icon, instead of relying on modifying existing ones and using scoreboards to simulate custom effects. It would also be useful to have potions that execute a specific .mcfunction while active, like a Fire Aura Potion.
Adding this kind of functionality would make things much easier for datapack developers and significantly reduce the need for complex scoreboards and command setups. If you can add it before you finish the chaos cubed update, it will help out a lot, and there will be less need to rely on mods to do that job.
