I'm voting up on all these types of feedback, bc imagine how sweet it would be to have a geyser a certain distance beneath a waterfall & have the particles from the top at the bottom, together with the sound effect, it just sounds so cool!

I also think that it would be cool, but it is not realistic at all

Au contraire, there are real life examples of man-controlled geysers. From the wikipedia article for Soda Springs Geyser in Idaho:

"On November 30, 1937, a well-drilling operation while attempting to build a natural hot springs swimming pool was surprised when it unintentionally released Soda Springs’s famous captive geyser, which surprised everyone by shooting 100 feet into the air. It has been capped, and a timer activates it once every hour on the hour."

When Soda Springs was accidentally discovered in 1937, it was actually so impactful on the geothermal system of that region of the United States that Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park became less faithful, so they put a cap on the geyser and controlled the releases with a timer to bring balance back to the system

I mean it is a video game - it's also not super realistic that pulling a block of solid magma, some potent sulfur, and a bucket of water out of your pocket and placing them in the world somewhere would create a geyser

The red stone should have to go to the magma.

I vote on the second option so you can have geysers on all the time for parcour

wow, I'm happy with all the people who like the idea. I had another thought about this idea where the pulse length increases the height of the geyser. It would be cool if a pulse length of 4 would make it go 4 blocks up and a pulse length of 10 makes it go 10 blocks up for more control over the height. The only issue is that the current tallest geyser is 20 blocks tall witch doesn't work with Redstone pulse, but I think if they made the max 15 blocks or every pulse makes it go up 1.3 blocks up, either way I think this would also be cool with this feature.

A Comparator could be used to detect a Geyser power level before it goes off, so the closer it is to erupting, the more redstone signal the comparator produces

I don't think this is that good of an idea but I can see it's uses, parkour and design but imo, it doesn't work for me personally.

You're going to have to explain better. "I can see all the ways this makes people's lives better for parkour and building, it just doesn't work for me" is just about completely useless unless you explain why. Elaborate please.

The drop might be feature complete but this shouldn't be considered a new feature, more like a tweak/adjustment which is what the latter snapshots are all about. At minimum, geysers could be tweaked so the eruption happens before the countdown. This way, pushing a magma block beneath potent sulfur will instantly trigger an eruption, then the magma block can be retracted to prevent new eruptions. And if you're not using geysers in that way, they would function almost identically to how they function now.

With all that being said, actual redstone powering as suggested would still be really nice to have.
