Event-exclusive capes create a real fairness problem. Players who collect capes or genuinely want them often cannot get them due to factors outside their control: the country they live in, age, travel costs, visa restrictions, or bad timing. Locking rewards behind physical attendance turns the system into a lottery based on geography rather than dedication to the game.
A simple solution: send the cape redemption code via email to every player who purchases a ticket, even if they cannot physically attend. This benefits everyone:
• Players who support the event by buying a ticket but cannot travel still receive the reward they paid for.
• Mojang and organizers continue earning ticket revenue without losing buyers who would otherwise skip the event.
• Cape collectors and long-time fans get a fair chance instead of being excluded by geography.
• It significantly reduces the grey market where these codes are resold at extremely inflated prices, which is a real ongoing issue.
The current approach unintentionally rewards location and luck rather than community engagement. Tying the cape to ticket purchase instead of physical presence keeps the event special, supports the business side, and respects players who genuinely care about the game and its collectibles.
Please consider this for future events. It would make the system fairer without taking anything away from those who attend in person.
