(Small Warning : The places I've talked about controller buttons/controls, I've used PlayStation terms. To avoid confusion, I've written the Xbox equivalents of the buttons at the end of the post.)
Details: On console, the hotbar can only be cycled using L1 and R1, one slot at a time. In PVP or fast-paced situations, this is a major disadvantage — if you're at slot 1 and need slot 6, you must press R1 five times, which is far too slow to be practical.
Suggestion: Add an optional setting that maps each hotbar slot to a specific controller button (e.g., D-pad directions, touchpad, Triangle, Circle, L1, R1), allowing any slot to be accessed instantly with a single press. Since enabling this replaces those buttons' current functions like emotes and chat, it should be entirely opt-in — ideal for PVP-focused players or those with back-button controllers. Casual players can simply leave the default layout unchanged. This would make controller hotbar speed much closer to keyboard and mouse, making PVP fairer and more enjoyable for console players.
(The Xbox Controls - Triangle is Y, Circle is B, L1 & R1 are LB & RB respectively,)
