While thinking about the trial chambers, I thought of an interesting concept. Have more trial structures in game. Varied in theme, and tied to a central structure. A chamber with loot you can only unlock by bringing trophies from these various new trials.
This could spawn statues, that have a slot for the trophies you bring. This could reward you with minor loot, and when all statues have been activated, a central door opens. This contains a final statue which when defeating say the Wither, Warden, or Ender dragon gives the trophie to unlock the chest. This would reward you with a unique weapon, or armour. Or perhaps even a beacon like item. This gives more content and encourages exploration, as seems the current goal of Mojang. The keyhole don't need to be attached to statues. It could be a single block, which would be boring. I like the idea of ancients leaving behind a trial, that only after overcoming significant feats judge you as worthy of their inheritance.
