The Chaos Cubed update added sulfur and cinnabar. Cinnabar, being the only ore of mercury, made me think of a new item: the thermometer. This item displays the temperature of the area your player is in. For example: A cold biome could make the thermometer bar shrink, indicating it's cold, while being in fire makes the thermometer bar grow, showing it is hot.
Another useful feature, also related to temperature, is a thirst bar. This goes alongside the already existing hunger bar, but acts differently. In a hot biome, your thirst bar will decrease faster than in a cold or temperate biome, and to regain thirst, you can drink a water bottle, adding another use to it other than potions. And, if you stay in a cold biome for too long without armor, you will start getting cold, and the effects of entering powdered will begin to apply. To stop you from freezing, you will need to craft new armor, made with leather and feathers. In a hot biome, you will start to sweat if out for too long, which, overtime, creates more and more sweat on your screen, blocking your vision, so you will have to craft a headscarf to suck up the sweat.
Finally, a sulfur cube should drop a sulfur item when killed, which can craft: Sulfur tnt, a more powerful tnt, Fertilizer, an alternative to bonemeal, and Gunpowder, so there is a new peaceful mode friendly way to craft it.
I hope my ideas can be reworked and hopefully be added to the game.
