Dear Mojang Team,
I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the recent integration of the Vulkan API in the 26.2 snapshot.
As a long-time player with over 5,000 hours of playtime, I have witnessed the evolution of Minecraft’s engine over the years. For a significant portion of that time, I had to rely on third-party performance mods to enable Vulkan support, as the legacy OpenGL renderer often struggled with modern hardware efficiency and consistent frame delivery.
I have been testing the new native Vulkan implementation in the latest snapshot, and the results are remarkably positive. Even in its early stage, the performance and stability I am experiencing are already outperforming OpenGL. The reduction in CPU overhead and the improved frame pacing are immediately noticeable, providing a much smoother experience on high-refresh-rate displays.
Implementing a modern graphics API is a bold and necessary step for the future of Minecraft. I want to encourage the team to continue this transition; seeing native support for such a powerful API is a development that veteran players like myself have long-awaited.
Thank you for your hard work in modernizing the game's technical foundation. I look forward to seeing the final implementation in the stable release.
Best regards.
