The Raven model, texture and sounds should be imported directly from Minecraft Dungeons. Its deep black plumage, heavy beak, and sleek silhouette perfectly capture the "Vanilla" aesthetic, feeling like a more wild and ancient relative of the Parrot. These birds would feel right at home in Swamps, and Dark Forests, perched high on dark oak branches or giant mushrooms.
The "Scout" Mechanic (Spyglass Synergy):
Unlike any other flying mob, the Raven could act as a living radar. If a player holds a Spyglass while an Raven is nearby, the bird will take flight and circle over the nearest hidden structure (like a Witch Hut or Woodland Mansion), letting out a loud, distinct caw to guide the player. This makes exploring dense, low-visibility biomes much more strategic.
This would make the Spyglass much more useful. Since most players use zoom mods, the spyglass currently has no special purpose; this mechanic would solve this problem by giving it a functional role in gameplay.
Raven wouldn't just be looking for Woodland Mansions and Witch Huts. He could have a list of priorities. If he doesn't see a Woodland Mansion within range (e.g. 600 blocks), he looks for other things, provided they are near the Swamp or Dark Forest biomes: Pillager Outposts and Villages.
Cooldown: After targeting a structure, the raven may require a cooldown to prevent this ability from being spammed.
