Ever since version 1.13, anaglyph 3D (red and cyan) has been removed from Minecraft, which has been a real shame, as I (and many other players) believe it added a great deal of depth, function, and beauty to the world.
Although it had some flaws (and wasn't as popular as it could've been), I have some suggestions to improve upon its faults for its theoretical return:
- Issue 1 (Color spectrum):
Anaglyph 3D (red and cyan) is an outdated form of stereoscopy and better alternatives exist. The best form of colored stereoscopy would be ColorCode 3-D, which uses an amber and blue filter for a much better color spectrum.
- Issue 2 (Lack of controls):
The original Anaglyph 3D option had no controls, meaning that players couldn't adjust the depth of 3D. This could limit the user base since some players could become nauseous or uncomfortable with the preset 3D depth.
- Issue 3 (Lack of awareness):
This issue is probably the largest. How will players know to use a feature they aren't aware of? Like most of your modern updates, you should hype up this feature with great suspense for maximum awareness.
One more idea (and one that could profit you well) is that you should consider selling Minecraft-branded 3D glasses for the update, not only giving players a quality set of glasses to experience the 3D effect as intended, but also to give players a physical, tangible medium to make the update experience extra meaningful!
Anyways, I'm nearly out of ink. Thanks for reading!
