Hello Minecraft Team,
I would like to share feedback regarding the recent graphics compatibility requirements for Minecraft Java Edition.
After updating the game, I encountered a crash during launch with the error: “Failed to find the GLFW platform surface extensions.” This appears to be related to newer OpenGL or graphics driver requirements that older Intel HD Graphics hardware cannot support properly anymore.
Many players, especially students and users with older laptops or low-end PCs, still rely on integrated graphics like Intel HD Graphics. Minecraft has always been known for being accessible on lower-spec systems, which is one of the reasons it became so popular worldwide.
I respectfully suggest considering either:
• lowering the minimum GPU/OpenGL requirement where possible
• adding a compatibility mode for older graphics hardware
• or continuing support patches for legacy graphics configurations
This would help keep Minecraft playable for more users who cannot upgrade their hardware easily.
Thank you for continuing to improve the game and for considering accessibility for players on lower-end systems.
