In the latest snapshot, Sulfur Springs have been added to the surface above a Sulfur Cave. As the magma and Potent Sulfur are harmful, it would be good to see this reflected in the surrounding environment too, with Charred Grass and Bushes, Ash instead of Leaf Litter, and Charred Wood trees.
These trees would just be their logs, no leaves, as they would have burned away, but Charred Wood would be able to be crafted into a black wood set, perfectly contrasting the pale oak's white wood. Pyrography and charring wood in general is a long-standing creative process in reality and has often been used in construction too - particularly in Japanese culture, but also doesn't look unlike Mock Tudor style in the UK. This would both give the Springs a more impactful presence on the surface but also offer a third new type of block for the Game Drop.
Lastly, as the Charred Wood would have no leaves, naturally they wouldn't drop saplings. However, Charred Wood can still be made a renewable resource, by allowing players to put any Wood type into a Smoker to char it, different than putting it into a Furnace to turn it into Charcoal. You could also put normal Grass and Bushes into a Smoker to make their Charred variants. As a bonus, putting Wood, Grass or Bushes into a Blast Furnace to make the Ash which sits on the ground - this means everything would be craftable in survival, as well as findable in Sulfur Springs.
