Based on the Antlion Larvae, would hide in sand of the Desert and maybe even parts of the Badlands Biomes. When dormant under sand, only their Pincers would be sticking above the sand, so the player has to keep watch not to get it confused with, say, a dried shrub for example.
If the player does step into the Antlion Pincer Trap, the lower half of the player's body becomes submerged in the sand, and the player must quickly jump out and hit the Antlion to be let go. To avoid the Antlion mob being overpowered, I would say it should do a similar amount of damage per second as a cactus. The Antlion should have a chance to drop it's Pincers, which when used by the player, allows the player to pull an enemy close to restrain them, can work like a rock climbing tool that allows a player to grab onto a block and pull themselves up, and when right-clicking on a mob like say a Zombie for example, the player has a chance to also pull off any armor or weapons that Zombie might be wearing. Furthermore, when a player kills an Antlion mob, the Antlion should simultaneously have a chance to drop items like rare blocks, ingots, etc, representing items the Antlion has horded from mobs it may have theoretically trapped before the player came upon it.
Minecraft needs more Arthropods (hopefully Crabs are added in the future) so the Antlion would make a fantastic mob that adds a new layer of difficulty to the deserts, that can consciously be avoided if careful, just like any other hostile mob.
