Add Cinnabar Golems to carry heavy items for you.

These would be spider shaped with eight legs. You can attach a saddle, any kind of boat, or any form of minecart to its back. You can feed it Potent Sulfur to repair it, or hold the block in your hand to make it follow you around, or you can attach a lead to it to do the same thing.
