While looking through the character creator for new clothing items, I accidentally hit the “purchase with Minecoins” button due to my controller acting up. I happened to have enough for the item, so my Minecoins were deducted and the item was purchased. I will never use the item, so I tried to look for a way to refund it. What I’ve found out is that there is no way to refund a purchase made with Minecoins.
The customer service AI said that “at the moment, Minecoins can’t be refunded as they are considered final” and suggested “turning on parental controls of some kind to prevent an accidental purchase”. When I explained why that wouldn’t work (due to Minecoins already being a “purchased item” and not being protected like a credit card), the AI agreed, saying I was correct and “It's a valid concern that accidental spending with Minecoins could occur.” That gives me hope that this can change, to prevent the loss of more Minecoins due to accidents or an unknowing child.
I think that players should have a way to get their Minecoins back if a situation like this happens. Of course, the purchased item would be taken back; which shouldn’t be a problem as it was unwanted in the first place. Players shouldn’t be able to lose something they paid real currency for, all because of a mistake– or better yet, because of the lack of protection such as a confirmation message. Kinda seems like it’s designed for this sort of thing to happen, doesn’t it? Please, show me I’m wrong, Microsoft.
