Due to 2019 database syncing issues, many veteran players permanently lost access to the 2019 Founders Cape. Support lacks the tools to manually restore these entitlements, causing unresolved tickets and frustration.
I propose a "Legacy Vault" feature within the Marketplace Pass to reintroduce highly sought-after legacy cosmetics, starting with the Founders Cape.
1. Business & Monetization
-
Subscription Driver: Reintroducing rare legacy items provides a massive incentive for new and returning Marketplace Pass subscriptions.
-
Zero Resource Cost: The digital assets already exist in-game. No new art direction or development time is required.
-
Reduced Support Overhead: Automating the acquisition of these items eliminates thousands of dead-end "missing cape" support tickets.
2. Ecosystem Integrity & Player Safety
-
Eradicating the Black Market: While standard Bedrock cosmetics like the Pride Cape don't generate enough interest to drive illicit account sales, the artificial scarcity of the Founders Cape is a glaring exception. It fuels a lucrative black market. An official acquisition path strictly undermines these ToS-violating sales.
-
Protecting Players: Eliminating this black market protects younger players from scams and account theft.
3. Community Goodwill This provides a universal fix for players affected by 2019 migration errors, restoring trust. A Legacy Vault modernizes legacy content delivery and boosts subscription value.
