I love the atmosphere of the new Sulfur Caves, but the current implementation of the pits feels a bit limited. Right now, the liquid is essentially just water with a color reskin, and the "Nausea" effect is tied to a block underneath rather than the fluid itself. As a player, I believe this is a missed opportunity to add meaningful depth and a new fluid variant to the game.
My suggestions for improvement:
-
Independent Fluid: The liquid should be Sulfuric Acid (H2SO4) with its own Fluid ID. It shouldn't be collectable in standard iron buckets (since the acid would corrode them), forcing players to use glass bottles or new specialized containers.
-
True Status Effects: "Nausea" is visually distracting but doesn't represent a real mechanical danger. The acid should apply a Poison or Corrosion effect that directly damages both player health and armor durability over time.
-
Interaction Mechanics: If acid touches regular water, it should release toxic gas particles (acidic steam clouds), requiring the use of Resistance potions or specialized gear to survive nearby.
Making acid a physical, collectable fluid instead of a water reskin would make the biome much more immersive and open up incredible possibilities for technical farming and level design.
