When I watched the most recent Minecraft Live, I was so excited hearing about the newest features, but also disappointed when I realized that the only use for these features so far are for building and for sandbox minigames. I do know that Mojang’s developers are very receptive to feedback, however, which is why I want to try and give some ideas for this drop,
When I think about a sulfur cave in real life, I think of a dangerous place where any misstep means serious harm. This danger should exist in Minecraft, too, in the form of the water made toxic by the sulfur block, or just by adding a new liquid block called sulfuric acid, causing poison damage similar to the pufferfish, and nausea like in the showcase. Maybe some sort of armor could be used to prevent this poison damage, like with leather armor and powdered snow. I think copper armor would be perfect for this job, since it’s new and deserves more fleshing out. Imagine wading through the poisonous sulfuric acid in a copper hazmat suit, taking rapid poison damage, but instead of the player getting hurt, the copper armor’s durability just wears until it breaks. This task of swimming through the sulfur could be what the copper armor excels at, while other armors fail to shield the player from damage.
Of course, there should be a reason to risk so much in the first place… Maybe the sulfur block could be brushed to drop sulfur powder, like how glowstone drops its dust in the nether, giving another use to copper brushes.
