At the moment there is no real incentive to avoid the Sulfur pools other than the fact that nausea is 'annoying' . Furthermore, Though it will be advertised as such, bubbles and the nausea effect are NOT game mechanics, but purely aesthetic features! This is incredibly disappointing, as though slimes could be super fun, the biome/building blocks are going to be the most used feature in this update for Survival players, especially in single player. Making potent sulfur cause the water to give players the poison effect is the perfect way to add more danger (and excitement) to the biome, and add a new and exciting game mechanic to be used in player or mob traps, farms and more!
